How Varun Mayya Built a Billion-View Company Without Investors

Varun Mayya's AEOS just published its annual report, and it's one of the more unusual documents to come out of Indian media this year.

The headline number: over 1 billion views a month, without a single outside investor. AEOS -short for "Attention Economy Operating System" - is a bootstrapped group of companies built around video and the attention economy, now 500-plus people strong across more than 70 channels reaching 9.2 million followers.

The client list reads like a stress test for credibility: Google, Coca-Cola, Zerodha, Cleartrip, Zoho, Vi, Nothing. Over 100 enterprises have worked with the group, and it says it has stayed profitable every single month.

But the strangest part of the report isn't the media business at all. AEOS also runs a game studio, and its first title, a soulslike set in 1950s India called Unleash the Avatar, went viral in China on nothing but an early trailer. It landed at number six out of more than 20,000 videos on an IGN China chart, trailing only Black Myth Wukong, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and GTA 6. No publisher. No ad spend.

The report frames the whole group around one idea: AI cuts cost, not craft. Every vertical, from ad films to the game studio, treats artificial intelligence as a way to execute faster, not as a replacement for the work itself.

Mayya's team says they publish this report because so few Indian bootstrapped companies share their playbook in public. This is their attempt to change that.
