The Indore Brothers Who Ended India's Dependence on Imported Hotel Soap

Every luxury hotel in India was stocking imported shampoo and soap. Two brothers in Indore decided that made no sense.
Mohit and Rajat Jain, along with their wives Kimi and Rica, started Kimirica in 2013 with a simple bet: India could make hotel-grade bath amenities as good as anything coming from Europe, without the import tag or the price markup.
They began manufacturing vegan, cruelty-free toiletries built specifically for luxury hospitality chains, and pitched Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt on the idea that world-class didn't have to mean foreign-made.
The turning point came in 2017, when a joint venture with Canada's Hunter Amenities created Kimirica Hunter International. That partnership took the company from an ambitious Indore manufacturer to India's largest hotel amenities supplier, shipping to more than 70 countries.
Instead of settling into B2B success, the founders used it as a launchpad. In 2019, they built Kimirica Lifestyle, a direct-to-consumer brand that took what five-star hotels had trusted for years and put it directly into people's homes.
Kimirica now runs two businesses that reinforce each other: a global supplier to the hospitality industry and a retail self-care brand with real presence across India. A new manufacturing facility coming up in Indore is set to expand both at once.
What started as one question about imported soap turned into a Make in India story that scaled past the hotel room entirely.
